
November 15, 2014 - On November 14th, the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown Hotel was the venue for the 14th Annual Burnaby Business Excellence Awards, hosted by the Burnaby Board of Trade and the City of Burnaby. The event recognizes organizations that have demonstrated outstanding business success and have had a positive and significant impact on the community.
The Awards event was emceed for the second straight year by Steve Darling and Kaitlyn Herbst, hosts of Morning News BC on Global TV.
Taking home the “Not-for-Profit of the Year” award was the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society. This was their second nomination and first win.
“We are honoured to be in this very competitive category and thank all of our supporters,” said Rob Lamoureux, president of the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society. “We do a lot of work to help a lot of worthy organizations in our community and this recognition means a lot to us.”
Winners were honoured in nine award categories, plus Burnaby-based ABC Recycling was recognized as this year’s Burnaby Business Hall of Fame inductee.
Business of the Year was Alpha Technologies Inc., a Burnaby-based leader in the design and manufacture of powering solutions for the Telecom, Broadband Cable, and Renewable Energy industries.
The Burnaby Business Excellence Awards are a joint initiative of the Burnaby Board of Trade and the City of Burnaby. The Awards Program is an opportunity to recognize and honour Burnaby businesses that have demonstrated outstanding business excellence, innovation, success and contributions to the city, as well as have made a significant contribution to community spirit, service and quality of life.
