The Burnaby Fire Fighters Association is the local union representing 274 professional members of the Burnaby Fire Department. We are members of the International Association of Fire Fighters, an organization of 295,000 professional fire fighters across North America, including 21,000 men and women whose duty it is to protect the lives and properties of Canadians.

Structure
The union membership elects Executive Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) to two year terms, and the remainder of the Executive Board (one representative each for A, B, C and D shift and the Fire Prevention Office) on an annual basis.
The Executive Officers are responsible for negotiating wages, benefits and all other conditions pertaining to the collective agreement between the union and the city, as well as ensuring a safe workplace and safe working conditions for the membership. The Executive have dominion over all grievances relating to the collective agreement, and represent all members of the union in their dealings with the employer.
The Burnaby Fire Fighters Association strives to work cooperatively with the Fire Chief and the department administration on issues of mutual concern, and attempts to foster a positive labour-management relationship.
